About The Black Boy

The Black Boy is a traditional back street boozer. Located outside of the hustle and bustle of the city centre, The Black Boy sits in a quiet residential area.

We have been known for many years as an interesting and quirky pub, furnished with old tables and chairs, and decorated with an eclectic mix of art, clutter and taxidermy.

It has been under the same ownership since 1995 and continues to offer a refreshing bolthole for a cross section of drinkers. Concentrating mainly on real ale sourced from Hampshire, it still has a small, but carefully sourced wine list.

As a traditional pub, beer is the main ingredient, but homemade food is also served 6 days a week. With a choice of sandwiches or main meals, all the food is prepared and made on site.

As well as having a roaring fire in the winter there is also a garden with heaters and a cloistered feel to it. Although not on the beaten track, it’s worth a little exploration to find it.
